Depending on your arrival time, you may have some time to relax or explore the local surroundings. A welcome dinner will be arranged in the evening where you'll meet your trekking team and guide, and get a briefing about the upcoming trek.
After breakfast, enjoy a guided tour of Kathmandu’s historic and cultural landmarks. Visit UNESCO World Heritage sites such as Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple), Pashupatinath Temple, Boudhanath Stupa, and Kathmandu Durbar Square. These sites will give you insight into Nepal’s rich culture and spiritual heritage. In the evening, prepare for your journey to the Everest region and finalize any last-minute trekking gear.
Today’s trek is a bit more challenging, as you will make your way to Namche Bazaar, the bustling trading hub of the Khumbu region. The trail follows the Dudh Koshi River, crosses several suspension bridges, and then ascends steeply to Namche. The hike takes around 6-7 hours, and you will be rewarded with spectacular views of the surrounding mountains, including Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam. Spend the night in a teahouse in Namche Bazaar.
To help acclimatize to the increasing altitude, today will be a rest day in Namche. You can explore the village and take a short hike to Everest View Hotel for stunning views of Everest, Lhotse, and other peaks. You can also visit the Sherpa Culture Museum or the Namche Bazaar Monastery. This day is essential to help your body adjust to the higher altitude and prepare for the trekking ahead.
After breakfast, you’ll begin the trek to Tengboche, a beautiful village known for its iconic monastery, Tengboche Monastery, which is one of the most important in the Khumbu region. The trail takes you through forests of pine and rhododendron, and the views of Everest and Ama Dablam become more striking. The trek takes around 5-6 hours, and after reaching Tengboche, you can explore the monastery and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.
On this day, you’ll continue to ascend into the heart of the Everest region. The trail leads you through the villages of Dingboche and Pangboche, offering more spectacular views of the Himalayas. Dingboche is a popular stop for trekkers as it provides great views of the surrounding peaks and has a quieter atmosphere than other places. The trek takes around 5-6 hours.
On the Dingboche acclimatization day, trekkers typically take a short hike to help the body adjust to the higher altitude. The day starts with a leisurely breakfast, followed by a trek to Nagarjun Hill or Chukhung, gaining about 400-500 meters in elevation. This helps with acclimatization while avoiding altitude sickness. The hike offers stunning views of Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and the surrounding peaks. Afterward, return to Dingboche for a relaxed afternoon. Rest, hydrate, and eat well to aid in recovery. It’s important to avoid overexertion while allowing the body to adjust to the altitude.
Today’s trek takes you higher into the Khumbu valley, as you make your way to Lobuche. The trail ascends gradually through a rocky landscape, with views of towering peaks like Pumori and Nuptse. The walk is strenuous, and the thin air at this altitude can make breathing a bit more difficult. You’ll arrive in Lobuche after about 5-6 hours of trekking. Here, you'll rest and prepare for the final push to Everest Base Camp.
From Lobuche, it’s a challenging trek to Everest Base Camp. The trail is rugged, with many rocky sections and occasional icy patches, but as you approach the base camp, the views of the Khumbu Icefall and the surrounding peaks are absolutely awe-inspiring. After reaching EBC, you’ll have time to take photos and soak in the atmosphere. From here, you continue on to Gorak Shep, where you’ll spend the night. The total trek today will take around 8 hours.
On this day, you will rise early to hike to Kala Patthar, one of the best viewpoints for panoramic views of Everest and the surrounding peaks. The sunrise view from Kala Patthar is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, with clear views of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and many other giants. After soaking in the views, you’ll return to Gorak Shep for a quick breakfast before taking a helicopter ride back to Kathmandu.
